Linux www.linuxidc.com 2.6.9-5. ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Jan 5 19:30:39 EST 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Oracle rac 10g

Ocfs2-2.6.9-42.EL-1.2.4-2.i686.rpm requires Kernel 2.6.9-42.EL (kernel upgrade rpm for 2.6.9-42. ELsmp could not be found so I had to find an EL handle)

First find the kernel-2.6.9-42.EL.i686.rpm on the internet, mkinitrd-4.2.1.6-1.i386.rpm these two rpm,
1. Update mkinitrd
Delete mkinitrd-4.1.18
[Root@www.linuxidc.com for oracle] # rpm-e -- nodeps mkinitrd-4.1.18-2
Install mkinitrd-4.2.1.6

[Root@www.linuxidc.com oracle] # rpm-ivh mkinitrd-4.2.1.6-1.i386.rpm
Warning: mkinitrd-4.2.1.6-1.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 443e1821

2. Install the kernel-2.6.9-42.EL Kernel
Backup/boot
Root@www.linuxidc.com ~ # Cp-R/boot. old
[Root@www.linuxidc.com oracle] # rpm-ivh kernel-2.6.9-42.EL.i686.rpm
Warning: kernel-2.6.9-42.EL.i686.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID a7048f8d

3. Edit grub. conf.

[Root@www.linuxidc.com oracle] # cd/boot/grub

[Root@www.linuxidc.com grub] # vi grub. conf

# Grub. conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You have a/boot partition. This means that
# All kernel and initrd paths are relative to/boot/, eg.

# Initrd-version.img/initrd
# Boot =/dev/sda
# Default = 1

Timeout = 20
Splashimage = (hd0, 0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
