Renaming files in Linux

There are two ways to rename a file under Linux:

1. More simple processing commands: MV

MV original filename New file name

such as: MV MyFile newName

Rename the myfile to NewName.

2.linux provides a rename file command: Rename

Rename from to File1 file2 ...

such as: Rename MyFile newName Myfile.text

Rename Myfile.text to Newname.text

This command is more useful in batch renaming

such as: Rename MyFile newName myfile.text myfile2.text myfile3.text

This command replaces myfile in myfile.text myfile2.text myfile3.text file name with NewName
