Step 1: display the "help" attribute (applicable to Windows XP/2003 operating systems)

Right-click the desktop and select "properties" from the shortcut menu to open the "Display Properties" dialog box. Click the "desktop" tab, and then click the "Custom desktop" button. In the displayed "desktop project" window, click the "General" tab to check the check box before the lost desktop icon, as shown in 1, click "OK" and then click "application". Press F5 to refresh the page to see if the lost desktop icon is back.

TIPS: If this option is invalid, repeat it twice. First, clear the check box, click application, and then click application.

Tip 2: Ask the Group Policy to "cheer" (applicable to Windows 2000/XP/2003 operating systems)

Click Start> Run. In the displayed run dialog box, enter gpedit. MSC and press enter to open the Group Policy Editor. In the Group Policy Editor, expand the "local computer policy → user configuration → manage template → desktop" option in sequence. The content box on the right includes: "delete my computer" icon on the desktop "," delete my files "icon on the desktop", "hide the" Network Neighbor "icon on the desktop", and "Hide Internet Explorer on the desktop "icon, set the attribute of the corresponding option to "disabled" to retrieve the system-level icons lost on the desktop.

Step 3: Check the "Start" menu (applicable to Windows XP/2003 operating systems)

Open the "Start" menu, find the corresponding lost project, right-click it, and select the "display on desktop" command. If the "My Documents" icon on the desktop is lost, right-click the "My Documents" option and select "show on the desktop", as shown in figure 2.

Note: This method is only applicable to Windows XP/2003 operating systems. In addition, you cannot use this method to restore the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop.

Step 4: Find the treasure in the IE option (for ie5.0 in Windows 98)

If the IE icon on the desktop is lost, you can use the following methods to restore it. You can also use the IE option to restore it. Start IE and Click Tools> Internet Options on the menu bar to open the Internet Options window. In this window, click the "advanced" tab, find the "show Internet Explorer on the desktop" option in the "Settings" list box, as shown in 3, and check the check box, click OK.
