Retrieve the Windows7 in the Windows.old folder

If the original installation of WIN8 is not installed into the Win7/win8 dual system, then you can only reinstall the Win7. However, if you install Win8 by custom installation and you do not format the system disk partition during installation, the file resources used in the Win7 system are all saved to the Windows.old folder, so we can retrieve the Win7 in that folder in the following ways.

1, view the system disk in the file resources

Start the system with the WIN7 installation disk first, then press F8 shortcut at system startup, select the "Fix Computer" option on the Win7 Advanced boot menu to bring up the System Recovery Options dialog box (Figure 1), and then click the command Prompt link in Figure 1 to open the command prompt Window and execute the following DOS commands (Figure 2, each input a DOS command, you need to press ENTER, the same below):

With the above steps, you can see the names of the files and folders contained in the system disk.

2, delete and move file resources

After you do this, then execute the following DOS commands (Figure 3) in the location of the figure 2 cursor:

del/f/s/q "program Files"

RD/S/q "ProgramFiles"

Move C:windows.old*.* C:

Tip: The first two DOS commands mean delete all the file resources under the "C:Program Files" directory and delete the "program Files" folder in the C packing directory; the third DOS command means "c:windows.old" All file resources under the directory are moved to the C-packing directory.

After completing the three DOS commands, and then selecting "Start Repair" in the dialog shown in Figure 1, follow the prompts to complete the repair of the Win7 system and restart the system, you can normally use the previously installed Win7 system. Friends with this need may wish to try.
