Usually after Windows 7 is installed, the C drive will mainly contain the following folders, which are also the main sources of space usage:
Program Files: Application folder. Generally, the software is installed here by default (a 64-bit user will have an additional program files (x86) folder, which is the installation directory of 32-bit software in the system, is normal)
Programdata: system folder, storing program usage data, settings, and other files. We do not recommend that you delete them.
Windows: it is very important to store the main files of the operating system.
User: stores user configuration files and data. The "user" folder in win7 is actually the Documents and Settings folder in XP.
Hiberfil. SYS: the disk space occupied by the system's sleep function.
Pagefile. SYS: Virtual Memory Page File
There are also some other folders:
$ Recycle. Bin: system folder, that is, "recycle bin", which cannot be deleted.
System volume information: system volume label information file. This folder stores the backup information restored by the system.
Perflogs: Windows Log information file, such as disk scan error information. Perflogs is automatically generated by the system.
Msocache: Local installation source of office
The above are the main files and folders in drive C. In addition, some other files may appear during use, such as files named after numbers and letters, this may be a temporary update folder for Windows Update, which is usually automatically deleted.
The Windows folder and user folder are described as follows:
Windows Folder:
This folder stores the main files of the Windows system, and the most occupied folders are system32 and winsxs.
System32: an important system folder that contains a large number of Windows files, including DLL, CPL, drivers, and files supporting system running.
Winsxs: winsxs is a very important folder under the Windows directory of Vista/win7. There are many important components in this folder, and the version is also very complex. To ensure the normal operation of windows, files in the file cannot be deleted.
User folder:
This folder contains data, program content, documents, music, and other content during user use. after entering the user folder, you will find a folder named after the user name, open the desktop, my music, my images, my videos, favorites, my documents, music, appdata, downloads, and other folders.
Desktop: All contents on the current user's desktop will be saved. Many friends are used to placing files on the desktop, which also occupies disk C space!
My music, my images, and my videos: as the name suggests, these contents are stored here by default. Of course, many of my friends are put in separate places. In addition, one thing to note is that apps downloaded from iTunes and other content will be stored in my music folder by default, which will also occupy the space of drive C.
Favorites: Contains favorites files in IE browser
Downloads: Some download content of IE and many browsers or other programs is stored here by default, which also occupies some "C disk" space.
My document: My document stores many program record files, such as commonly used data files in folders such as outlook, QQ, and MSN.
Appdata: stores program data, that is, application data in the early Windows system, user-defined settings in the installation software, temporary folders, and quick start folders.
