Ruby -- about require and require_relative

Source: Internet
Author: User

Both require and require_relative are kernel methods.

However, there is a difference between the two.

Requrie filename

1) if filename is a relative path, it will be searched in $ laod_path ($ :).

$ Load_path.unshift (file. dirname (_ file _) Unless $ load_path.include? (File. dirname (_ file _) # file. dirname (_ file _) indicates the current path. The $ load_path.unshift method is used to load the current directory to the ruby standard path.

2) If filename is an absolute path, find the absolute path

Require_relative filename

1) directly obtain the relative path. This is irrelevant to $ load_path ($ :). It is the relative address of the file path.
