SCVMM R2 Operations Management 13: Adding resources to the VMM library
The previous blog post tells you how to add a library server to VMM, and in today's post you'll discuss how to add resources to the VMM library for our use.
We can use the following procedure to add a file's resource (also known as a physical resource) to an existing library share in System Center 2012–virtual machine Manager (VMM), and then manually refresh the library share. After you add a file to a library share, the files are not displayed in the library until the next time the library refreshes, the VMM indexes the files. By default, the library refresh interval is one hour.
Note: An hour is the minimum value that you can configure for the library refresh interval. To change the library refresh interval, open the library workspace, and then on the Home tab, click Library Settings.
There are two ways to add file-based resources to a library:
1. Add outside VMM (share folder that will be copied directly to the VMM library server)
Outside VMM, browse to the library share:
For example, in our case, the library server is Vmmku, its shared folder is ISO and the VHD, we browse to the ISO folder on Vmmku:
650) this.width=650; "height=" 482 "title=" clip_image002 "style=" border:0px;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px; Padding-left:0px;background-image:none, "alt=" clip_image002 "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M02/6F/ED/ Wkiol1wt7vjwdcd2aadbhtlzjc4800.jpg "border=" 0 "/>
Then copy the files to the share.
In this example, we copy the installation image of Windows 8.1 to the ISO folder:
650) this.width=650; "height=" 426 "title=" clip_image004 "style=" border:0px;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px; Padding-left:0px;background-image:none, "alt=" clip_image004 "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M00/6F/ED/ Wkiol1wt7vjafxjgaaeoqzdvb2g782.jpg "border=" 0 "/>
Check if the file was added successfully:
Log on to the VMM server----Library----Library server----Right-click "Library server name + domain name", where I Right-click "Vmmku. corp.com "----" Refresh ":
650) this.width=650; "height=" 425 "title=" clip_image006 "style=" border:0px;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px; Padding-left:0px;background-image:none, "alt=" clip_image006 "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M01/6F/ED/ Wkiol1wt7vvregmsaaffpvhmue0816.jpg "border=" 0 "/>
Click Refresh to expand "ISO":
650) this.width=650; "height=" 425 "title=" clip_image008 "style=" border:0px;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px; Padding-left:0px;background-image:none, "alt=" clip_image008 "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M02/6F/ED/ Wkiol1wt7vud4nymaafcq8y49ee665.jpg "border=" 0 "/>
OK, you can see that we have successfully added the file to the VMM library.
2. Add files to the VMM library by using the "Export material resources" method
In the library workspace of the VMM console, expand Library Servers:
650) this.width=650; "height=" 426 "title=" clip_image010 "style=" border:0px;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px; Padding-left:0px;background-image:none, "alt=" clip_image010 "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M00/6F/ED/ Wkiol1wt7vvjjjmcaaf4kzyhzsy512.jpg "border=" 0 "/>
On the Home tab, click Import Physical Resource:
650) this.width=650; "height=" 484 "title=" clip_image011 "style=" border:0px;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px; Padding-left:0px;background-image:none, "alt=" clip_image011 "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M01/6F/ED/ Wkiol1wt7wwh5-rpaadsmydaurq448.jpg "border=" 0 "/>
Click Add Resource, and then double-click the resource you want to add:
650) this.width=650; "height=" 484 "title=" clip_image012 "style=" border:0px;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px; Padding-left:0px;background-image:none, "alt=" clip_image012 "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M02/6F/ED/ Wkiol1wt7wwrllngaaelgr2qfcu372.jpg "border=" 0 "/>
As you can see here I'm adding the ISO image for Windows Server R2, now I need to specify the location of the library server that the import resource is stored in, click "Browse" in the lower right corner:
650) this.width=650; "height=" 484 "title=" clip_image013 "style=" border:0px;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px; Padding-left:0px;background-image:none, "alt=" clip_image013 "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M02/6F/F1/ Wkiom1wt7slbz6jwaaffelh0l88827.jpg "border=" 0 "/>
Select the library you want to join and click OK:
650) this.width=650; "height=" 484 "title=" clip_image014 "style=" border:0px;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px; Padding-left:0px;background-image:none, "alt=" clip_image014 "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M00/6F/F1/ Wkiom1wt7sbh45yzaaesbnk4vwo444.jpg "border=" 0 "/>
Specify "Import repository server and Target" and click "Import":
650) this.width=650; "height=" 484 "title=" clip_image015 "style=" border:0px;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px; Padding-left:0px;background-image:none, "alt=" clip_image015 "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M01/6F/EE/ Wkiol1wt7wrcul8vaafgw-f1tmc049.jpg "border=" 0 "/>
You can see that the system is importing resources:
650) this.width=650; "height=" 438 "title=" clip_image017 "style=" border:0px;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px; Padding-left:0px;background-image:none, "alt=" clip_image017 "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M02/6F/EE/ Wkiol1wt7wub487taaht1bn4asi030.jpg "border=" 0 "/>
You can see that the operation is complete.
Check:
Library "----" library server "----right mouse button" library server name + domain name ", in this my right mouse button" Vmmku. corp.com "----" ISO ":
650) this.width=650; "height=" 423 "title=" clip_image019 "style=" border:0px;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px; Padding-left:0px;background-image:none, "alt=" clip_image019 "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M00/6F/EE/ Wkiol1wt7wuqtvm7aaf4urxkkv4217.jpg "border=" 0 "/>
As you can see, our Windows Server R2 CD has been successfully added to the VMM library.
OK, here we have today's experiment success, thank you for reading! More wonderful blog please continue to follow.
