Service Application Connection
Service applications is provided for use by WebApplication and other services application. So how do they relate to each other? What if I don't want a Web application to use a service application?
SharePoint uses connection to correlate serviceapplication (service delivery) and Web application (consumer services).
Use farm Administrator to login to central administration, go to Application Management, select a Web application, click Service on Ribbon Connection:
On the page that pops up, you can see the service application associated with this Web application:
SharePoint includes a group named default, which by default contains all serviceapplication. If you do not want the current Web application to consume some service application services, you can click the drop-down list and select Custom so that you can cancel the association of some service application.
You cannot create a new group here, you can only choose default or Custom.
Is it possible to modify SharePoint's built-in default group? Locate the link for the Configuration Association in Central Administration:
This page can be used to see all the application related cases.
To change the default, click Default and change it in the popup page:
When do I need to modify the association?
For example, the company has a number of partners, in order to share files with partners, for partners to build a Web application. But don't want the partner's user to create my site, and do not want them to access the company's internal user's My site, this time can be the Web application and user Profile Service Application Association removed.
