The process of 3.5.1 server shutdown
The system completes the following steps when you close the database routine.
1. The first phase
Oracle writes the contents of the buffer to the redo log file.
Writes the changed data in the database buffer to the data file.
Closes the data file and the redo log file.
The control file is still open and the database cannot perform a general access operation.
2. Phase II
Closes the database.
The routine begins unloading the database.
The control file is closed, but the SGA memory and background support processes are still running.
3. Phase III
Routine closed.
Releases the SGA memory.
End all background processes.
4 ways to 3.5.2 server shutdown
Oracle 9i has a total of 4 types of server shutdown, as shown in Table 3.2.

Way Characteristics
Normal shutdown The database shuts down normally. New connections are not allowed when the close option is applied. All users connected to the database must disconnect from the database before shutting down the database
Close now The database closes immediately. The current client SQL statement terminates immediately
Abort shutdown Abort the current client SQL statement that is being processed by the Oracle database server
Transaction shutdown Provides a specified length of time. The transaction is completed within that time before the database is closed. Do not close the database until the last database transaction completes

3.5.3 Normal shutdown
(1) as shown in Figure 3.30.

(2) The "Database connection Information" interface appears as shown in Figure 3.31.

(3) The interface appears as shown in Figure 3.32.

(4) The "Close Options" interface appears as shown in Figure 3.33.
(5) The "Prompt for graceful shutdown routine" interface appears as shown in Figure 3.34.

(6) The interface shown in Figure 3.35 appears after a successful shutdown of the routine.
(7) The General Information tab for the database configuration appears, as shown in Figure 3.36.

3.5.4 Immediate shutdown
(1) in the "Close options" screen shown in Figure 3.37, select "Immediate" radio buttons.

(2) Closed, appear as shown in Figure 3.35 interface.
3.5.5 Abort shutdown
(1) Figure 3.38 shows the "Close Options" interface.

(2) Closed, appear as shown in Figure 3.35 interface.
3.5.6 Transaction shutdown
(1) in the "Close Options" interface shown in Figure 3.39, select "Transaction Processing" radio buttons.

(2) Closed, appear as shown in Figure 3.35 interface.
