Simple file sharing between external windows and RedHat virtual machines in VMware

Generally, the operating system we use is windows. Sometimes we need to perform tests on Redhat or other operating systems through the VM creation method of VMware. In this case, sometimes some files need to be copied from windows to RedHat. What should I do?

There are several methods, such as setting up FTP and using Samba. If you have Installed VMware Tools, you can drag them in directly. However, I think it is easier to use the following methods, in this way, you also need to install VMware Tools.

The method is simple. Right-click the corresponding virtual machine, select the setting menu, switch to "options", and select "Shared Folders" to add a shared directory. In addition, select "always enabled" in "folder sharing" to add a directory to take effect. As shown in.

In the RedHat virtual machine, how does one access the shared directory added in? The operation is also very simple. In the RedHat virtual machine, enter the directory/mnt/HGFS to see the shared directory we just added. As shown in, we added a d disk and the corresponding directory name is D. Then we can see the d directory under the/mnt/HGFS directory, this directory is the shared Windows directory. Next we can use this directory as a file directory in RedHat, such as copying files. If you allow modification when adding a directory, you can also add or delete files to or from the directory in the RedHat virtual machine.

There are several ways to share files, each of which has its own advantages. However, when I was using it, I felt that the FTP method was a little troublesome and slow, and Samba was easy to find the host when I was using it, directly dragging in seems the easiest way, but I always report an error when dragging large files. This error may be related to the directory size settings of RedHat. Compared to the above methods, it is best to directly set the shared directory. If the directory is not shared in a VM, you must consider FTP, Samba, and other methods.
