Solution for Windows XP not being able to shut down properly

Friend Lu recently encountered a problem when installing the Chinese version of Windows XP, he installed the Windows XP system very smoothly, the installation is not normal shutdown. What should we do if this is the case? Of course it's my shot.

The friend's computer configuration is: K6-2 266MHz @300mhz, MVP3 (at board type) motherboard, 160 MB SDRAM (PC100), FUJITSU 10G hard disk, CMI-8330 Isa interface sound card, the video card is the Sis6326,at power supply.

In the past, the original shutdown operation, does not show "now can safely shutdown" (if the ATX motherboard with ATX power supply, of course, automatic shutdown), but reboot, can only manually force shutdown.

In fact the shutdown is not normal situation in win

Dows98se is a very much-seen situation. The common causes are:

1. The operating system and motherboard support for ACPI or APM is not perfect.

2. The various hardware outside the motherboard is not complete for ACPI or APM support.

3. Hardware driver bugs.

4. The BIOS of the motherboard needs to be improved.

5. The system is not good enough for fast shutdown (for Windows98 only).

6 before shutdown, there are some resident memory program exits and conflicts with the system shutdown process.

7 viruses.

8 Failure of the disk subsystem, such as IDE driver and system compatibility is not good enough.

Of course there are many other reasons, I can not repeat this one by one.

Because a friend is a newly installed operating system, a variety of applications are not installed except for the driver of the sound card (other hardware is driven by the operating system itself). So the author will focus on the main board and the operating system on the power management support is not perfect. Faith first easy after difficult principle, first into the motherboard CMOS settings interface, in the power management will PM control by APM shutdown, start into the system, and then shutdown, the computer is still restarted.

Then start Windows XP, in turn into the Control Panel power Management, click the "Hibernate" menu, at this time to enable hibernation is unchecked, and then check "Enable hibernation", can still not be effective.

Re-access the power options in the Control Panel, click on the "Advanced Power Management" sub page, the system shows: This machine supports Advanced Power Management (APM), using APM can reduce the power loss of the system. At this point, enable advanced Power management support is in the selected state. Do not hesitate to remove the "Enable Advanced Power Management support", a lot of electricity consumption is also just, not normal shutdown, how awkward ah. Next of course is shutdown, OK, "now can safely shutdown" a few words out, haha, very kind.

This example is because the system is not good enough for advanced power management support, or you can upgrade the BIOS to eliminate the failure, only this motherboard is old, may have been unable to find the updated BIOS, so did not try to ATX motherboard, recommended still enable advanced power management, otherwise there may be trouble.
