Solve the problem that HMC cannot log on to IE browser (Java Applet usage problem)

The HMC (Hardware Management Console) must be used to manage IBM minicomputers. Sometimes, when we use the test environment, we install HMC in a virtual machine on our computer and then manage minicomputers, however, it is too inconvenient to use HMC in a virtual machine. The resolution cannot be adjusted even if the font is painful, and the installation of vmtools is not supported. You have to switch back and forth by clicking the mouse, which is uncomfortable to use, fortunately, HMC also provides a web interface, which is exactly the same as the interface operated directly in the virtual machine, and also has Chinese characters (however, garbled characters will appear after the Open maintainability event is clicked, I don't know why ?), In short, all kinds of convenience are essential for ibm sa, but the problem is still coming (this article uses HMC7 as an example ).
In fact, after HMC is installed by default, the web access function has been activated and can be accessed directly through the https: // hmc ip address in the browser. To view the IP address of HMC, click HMC Management on the left, Change Network Settings under Operations on the right, and select LAN Adapters in the pop-up window to view the IP address of HMC.

Before that, you have to install JDK (JRE is also required in theory, but I have not tried it), because using Java Applet in a browser does not work. Note that 64-bit systems are everywhere. If your browser is 32-bit, you must install the 32-bit JDK, only 64-bit JDK installation cannot normally load Java Applet in IE and other 32-bit browsers, so if it is a 64-bit system, you can install both the 32-and 64-bit JDK.
Now you can use https: // 192.168.2.126 In the IE browser to log on to HMC. The problem also arises. All problems may occur under the default settings. 1. Certificate error. This is normal. simply choose to continue browsing. 2. After logging on to and starting the Web application of the hardware management console, the HMC logon box may not appear, which is also the key issue to be solved in this article. Open the control panel of win7, search for java in it, click the familiar java icon in the result, the java Control Panel will pop up, select the Security tab, click "Enable Java content in the browser", pull the following "Security Level" to the bottom, that is, "medium", and then confirm. Now turn off all IE browsers and repeat the above steps. At this time, whether to allow the running of java applets will pop up, and whether the java Applet has no signature. Be sure to run it, in about 20 seconds (or a short time), the IE browser will show a logon box where you can enter the user name and password and log on to HMC. If not, try to minimize the Internet Options-> Security level under the Internet, and then remove the "enable protection mode" check box, close all IE Windows and repeat the above steps.
For Firefox, I personally prefer this, which is slightly different. FF does not require java applet support when logging on. you can log on to HMC without installing jdk. However, due to https certificate issues, you must add an exception to open the page.
For Firefox or IE, if the Console window of the partition is opened from the HMC (if the Console terminal window cannot be opened, if there is no video card or no video card is connected to the display or keyboard, it is impossible to install the AIX system for a small machine. Of course, this is not the case of using a serial port connection). This must be supported by Java, so if JDK is not installed, the terminal window of the small machine cannot be opened (note that FF and IE must allow the two Java Plug-ins to run/start ), even directly starting from the virtual machine HMC itself seems to require Java support to open the terminal window of the virtual machine. I tried many times and failed to open the terminal window of the virtual machine in the Virtual Machine HMC, probably because Java is not installed? However, if HMC is used in the customer's data center, it can be opened normally. I do not know why.
