SQLIOSim

Function:

Simulates the behavior of SQL Server to test IO performance.

Version of SQLIOSim:

(1) SQL Server 2005 SQLIOSim is a suite that needs to be downloaded online.

(2) Starting with SQL Server 2008, SQLIOSim is included in the SQL Sever installation. For SQL Server R2, the application is in the same directory as C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\mssql10_50.mssqlserver\mssql\binn.

(3) SQLIOSim will replace Sqliostress;sqliostress previously known as SQL70IOStress.

(4) SQLIOSim compared to SQLIOStress to simulate the disk I/O mode of SQL Server more accurately.

SQLIOSim Main Features:

(1) Use this tool to perform reliability and security testing on disk subsystems.

(2) These tests simulate the activities of SQL Server, such as read, write, checkpoint, backup, sort, pre-read, and so on.

Usage Environment:

(1) SQL Server can be installed without prior view.

(2) Suitable for simulating disk I/O patterns that generate SQL Server.

Description of the relevant documents:

(1) SQLIOSIM. COM file: is a command-line tool that allows you to set up execution without user interaction. To do this, you can use a command-line parameter, a configuration file, or a combination of these two methods.

(2) SQLIOSIM. EXE file: is a graphical interface application that can accept without command line arguments. However, SQLIOSim.exe does not load the preset configuration file.

(3) Sqliosim.cfg.ini file: This is the current environment Profile (config file), so adjust the parameters of the Sqliosim, this file will be used to hold the relevant settings, if deleted, the system will restore the default values. Without this file, the SQLIOSim is automatically generated after the first execution.

(4) Sqliosim.log.xml file: Store Sqliosim after the execution of the relevant records. The results of each execution are appended to this file.

(5) Errorlog.xslt file: Sqliosim.log.xml need to use this ERRORLOG.XSLT file for conversion.

x64-bit version of SQLIOSim tool:

file:sqliosim.cfg.zip, contains 5 configuration files that can be used as input parameters.

(1) General testing recommended by Default.cfg.ini.

(2) Hwcache.cfg.ini hardware cache behavior test.

(3) Nothrottle.cfg.ini test system under high query pressure.

(4) Seqwrites.cfg.ini simulates basic import behavior such as bcp and restore.

(5) Sparse.cfg.ini tests sparse file behavior through DBCC and database snapshots.
