The Dutch construction firm unstudio has recently completed a public street art facility in Xintiandi, Shanghai. The public device is located between the road and the walking square, and is associated with the city and its people. Ben van Berkel of unstudio mentioned that the consumption culture is not just as simple as shopping, but related to the whole life picture. We pay for our city, the buildings around us, and the people around us, even ourselves. The 30-meter-long public device is a distorted and inverted board with the entire shape. The wall will naturally transition to a ceiling and the passing pedestrians will be reflected. Ben van Berkel said they hoped to make the device a focus of dressing up the public space to attract the public around them. people passing by here are like walking shows, and here they are watching others, there is a new relationship between viewing and being viewed, and a new way of understanding the ideas around them is created. This large reflection installation device combines the ground, city, and pedestrians in the shopping center into a motion picture and gives a new interpretation of the relationship between them.
