Pending = Suspend To RAM (STR)
Sleep = Suspend To Disk (STD)

The memory is still working after being suspended, and all devices are stopped after being sleep.

The suspension speed is faster than the sleep speed and recovery speed.

Ubuntu suspends sleep

If a hard disk is suspended, the current state of the computer is loaded into the memory, that is, the hard disk stops power supply, but the memory still needs power supply. The advantage is that recovery is fast, but the disadvantage is that continuous power supply is required and the power will have to be restarted.

Sleep is to save the current state of the system to a sleep file on the hard disk, and then close all the devices. you can safely shut down the power supply and restart it next time, the files stored in the hard disk are automatically called and restored to the state before shutdown.
The advantage is that power supply is not required and sleep takes a long time. The disadvantage is that the recovery speed is slow (relative to suspension ).

It takes 2 or 3 seconds to resume a suspension. It takes more than 10 seconds to recover from sleep, which is slower than suspension but much faster than restart.
