A burst of win8, with the latest version of Tortoise SVN, but found that the SVN status icon for folders and files does not appear, and other operations are normal. Searched the Internet for some methods.
workaround One (failure):
Upgrade the latest version. My original is the latest version
workaround Two (failure):
Right-click->tortoisesvn->settings->icon overlays->status cache to see if it is default and none, and if so, set it to shell. I tried it, and it didn't show up after the shell was set:(
workaround Three (failure):
Locate the TORTOISESVN installation package, double-click to open the installation package, click next--Select Repair (fix)--repair, and after the repair is complete, restart the system. I also tried, still no status show:(
workaround Four (success): Win+r call out the Run window, enter regedit in the run to open the registry,
Hkey_local_machine->software->microsoft->windows->currentversion->explorer-> Shelliconoverlayidentifiers opened found Tortoise series (1tortoisenormal,2tortoiseadded, etc.) front there are many items, Tortoise series ranked 10, no wonder not shown. Now the task is to refer them to the front, modify their names just fine (I see the first item prefix is a space, indicating the character of the space in the front, I added a few spaces), I changed the name such as (Tortoisenormal, tortoiseadded, etc.), Then close and then open the registry and discover that the Tortoise series icons are already in front of them, and the SVN icon is not displayed, rely on, restart Explorer (end Explorer.exe in Task Manager, new task in file-- Input explorer, of course, can restart the computer, but good SB), so OK, the cute svn icon appears again.
Principle: The Windows Explorer Shell supports up to 15 Overlay icons, and Windows itself already uses 4, so there are only 11 left for us to use. If you have previously installed software such as groove, then maybe we can use less, and it will not be tortoise. In cases like this, we can adjust the alphabetical order of the Tortoise icon names to increase the precedence of the tortoise, because Windows is the name of the installation in alphabetical order to first display.
Summary:
The reason is because I installed a lot of synchronization network disk (Baidu network disk, Dropbox, etc.) occupy the Overlay icon, no wonder some synchronization network disk status icon does not display it. However, the SVN icon is displayed, but it is certain that other software icons will not be displayed. Tortoise SVN files modified, the parent folder icon is unchanged, always show unmodified
This problem is also encountered after the file and folder display status. Workaround: Right-click->tortoisesvn->settings->icon overlays->status Cache to change the previously set shell to default or None:)
