SYBASE 12.0 for Dec Installation Guide

A Installation Requirements:

1. Platforms and operating systems: Digital Unix 4.0a or above

2. OS Patch: duv40das00002-19980717, OSFOBSOLETE425 (OS 5.0 does not need to be fixed)

3. Set up users and groups: User name: Sybase group name: Sybase request to ensure that the main standby machine Uid,gid consistent

4. Sybase software space requirements (excluding databases): 1000MB

5. System parameters: Adjusting asynchronous I/O and shared memory

Edit File/etc/sysconfigtab Add the following seven lines:

ipc:　
shm-max=nnn　　　　nnn=实际内存数(2G内存=2048000000)
ssm-threshold=0
rt:
aio-max-num=1024
vm:
　　　　new-wire-method=0

Reboot the system after modification.

6. The equipment used by all databases is modified for Sybase users to read and write.

Two Software Installation:

1. Insert Sybase Disc

2. Log on as root:

#/usr/sbin/mount-v ' Cdrfs '-R ' Device_name/cdrom

3. Log on as Sybase User:

% Cd/cdrom

%./install (character terminal use./install–c)

4. Set Environment variables:

CSH:% cp/sybase/sybase.csh $HOME/.CSHRC

SH or Ksh use cat/sybase/sybase.sh >> $HOME/.profile
