System installation 2---BIOS setup

For a new computer to install the Windows system via a USB flash drive, our first step is to modify the BIOS settings absolutely. In this case we need to revise several more important options. Described below:

• Modify the first startup item: The goal is to make the first boot of the computer into a USB stick boot.
• Adjust boot mode: uefi/legacy boot
• Set whether secure boot is enabled: Secure boot

The following is an example of the BIOS setup for Lenovo G50 (see below):

1. Enter BIOS, there are two ways to enter the BIOS about the Lenovo G50 model computer

(1), through the Notebook side power Interface A small button to enter

(2), press the power button, when the Lenove interface appears, immediately press F12

(3), successfully enter the BIOS interface

2. Modify the first boot key to start the USB stick (shown below)

3. Modify the boot mode: Here are two different scenarios (but all of which are new and old-fashioned options)

>>. Uefi and Legacy Boot

1 Uefi is the new bios,legacy is the traditional BIOS. The system you install in UEFI mode can only be booted in UEFI mode, so if you are a system installed in legacy mode, you can only enter the system in legacy mode. UEFI only supports 64 system and the disk partition must be GPT mode, the traditional BIOS uses INT 13 interrupt read disk, each time can read 64KB, very inefficient, and uefi can read 1MB, load faster. In addition, WIN8 is further optimized for UEFI support, which is known to enable instantaneous booting. So select the Uefi Frist when installing WIN8, and select Legacy first when installing Win7.

3. Set Up Secure boot

1 first, what is Secure boot? 2       Secure Boot is a sub-rule of the UEFI bios, which, under the Boot option of the traditional (Legacy) BIOS, requires that all vendors (i.e., OEMs) with pre-installed WIN8 operating systems must open secure boot (the public key that is built into the motherboard Win8). Some motherboards this option is secure Boot Contrl, located under Security options. Preinstalled Win8 system PC, once this function is turned off (setting it to "Disabled"), it will cause the system not to enter.  3 . What is the role of secure boot? 4       Secure boot design is designed to prevent malware intrusion. In fact, it can only do that, when the computer's boot is modified by the virus, it will give a reminder and refuse to start, to avoid possible further losses.  5        More people think that this is Microsoft to prevent the installation of Windows operating system of the computer modified Linux. Objectively speaking, the original intention of Microsoft to design secure boot may be to ensure the security of the system, but the result seems to be a PC manufacturer to protect the market monopoly, a means to hinder competition.
