System tips: display Chinese preview in the Vista Font viewer

In general, there is no big difference between the Vista Font viewer and XP, but the display method of the font information in the header is slightly modified. however, The localization of the Vista Font viewer is obviously not enough, and The preview of Chinese characters cannot be displayed. No matter what language, the font will show "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. 1234567890 ", and some Chinese fonts cannot display their Chinese names. if you do not hand over these fonts at ordinary times, there is nothing to do with it, but for those who have this part of the demand, you can never find the font and install it in the system before using other software to check the effect. today, I need to find a few fonts. This Bug can make me angry. After studying it, I still have a solution.

First, I thought of replacing Vista with the fontview.exe file in XP. but the file is XP after all, and I don't know if it will cause other problems. so I opened XP's fontview.exe with Restorator 2007 and found a "info table" resource with a heap of hexadecimal encoding, however, the preview on the right shows that this part does contain text in the font Preview pane. open the Vista file and there is no "info table" resource. It must be in its mui. Replace Vista with XP's "info table. you can open a font without any errors, but the text display position is all disordered. For example, the "print" in the upper left corner of the window turns into the "Windows Chinese font example 1234567890" that we are struggling to find ", it seems that the correspondence relationship is not the same, so the "info table" of Vista is exported and opened with the hexadecimal editing software. However, the software does not seem to support replacing the characters with Chinese characters, so I searched for Chinese characters and converted them into hexadecimal codes.

When I think that I want to replace the mui file after the modification, I shake my hand and drag the mui file to the ResHacker icon... the original ResHacker can directly modify the "info table" Resource (the ResHacker is called "message table"), dizzy... I spent more than half a day... so the modification was completed. By the way, two documents without translation from Microsoft were written into Chinese. saved. The test was successful. in this way, you can directly view the style of Chinese characters in the font, however, the problem that some fonts cannot display Chinese names remains unsolved (if you think this is important, use XP fontview.exe ).

The following figure shows the default status of Vista and the effect after the mui is modified.

First, obtain the control permission for the % SystemRoot %/System32/zh-CN/fontview.exe. mui file, download the modified mui file on this page, decompress the file, and replace the original file.
