The concept of a vro differs from that of a vswitch.

The OSI Layer-7 reference model is as follows: bottom-to-bottom, physical layer-data link layer-network layer-Transport Layer-Session Layer-presentation layer-application layer.

First, they work at different layers. Routers work at the network layer, while switches work at the data link database layer.

Second, the data is forwarded based on different objects. The vswitch uses the physical address (MAC address) to determine the data forwarding address, while the vro uses the Logical Network Address (IP address) to determine the data forwarding address.

Then, the vswitch divides only the conflicting domain and not the broadcast domain, while the vro separates both the conflicting domain and the broadcast domain.

Finally, the router also provides firewall services.
