Description

XZ is a lossless data compression file format using the LZMA compression algorithm. And gzip, like BZIP2, also supports multiple file compression, but the Convention cannot compress more than one target file into the same file. In contrast, XZ is typically used as a compressed format for an archive file itself, such as an archive created using tar or Cpiounix programs. XZ is used in GNU coreutils (version 7.1 or later). XZ as a compression package is included in Fedora (since Fedora 12), Arch Linux,freebsd, Slackware Linux,crux and Funtoo medium.
