In the last article, we introduced the Web configuration of the first page configuration options, below, we began to introduce ADSL modem LAN-related network configuration.

2, LAN Related settings

ADSL modem LAN settings related content, mainly used to set the modem LAN interface to use the IP address, as well as the modem set to a LAN in the use of a DHCP server in detail. After clicking on the "LAN Port" tab, we can see that there are four options under this tab: "LAN Settings", "DHCP mode," "DHCP Server" (DHCP server), "DHCP Relay" (DHCP relay). Here's a detailed description of each option.

LAN settings

This page is mainly for the modem LAN interface to use the IP address settings. Shown in Figure 12 below. For the modem LAN interface used by the IP address, there are three different ways to obtain. The first method is to specify it manually, so we want to specify an IP address by selecting the "Manual" option in the "Get LAN Addresses" column. The manual option is the default setting value and the manufacturer assigns a fixed reservation address (such as 192.168.1.1) to the modem factory. We then have to fill in the respective IP address and subnet mask in the two columns below. In this page, we can also see the modem LAN interface connection speed and working mode, like the author of the modem, it and switch connection speed is M, Full-duplex working mode. In the following IGMP option, we choose the default disable, and generally do not need to make changes.

If we want this modem to get the dynamic IP address from the ISP's DHCP server and assign this address every time it logs in, we choose "External DHCP Server". And if there is another DHCP server on our local area network, and you want this modem to automatically obtain an IP address from a DHCP server in the LAN, select "Internal DHCP Server".
