If you have a 250GB big hard drive, when someone installs Vista for you, it only divides you into C (40GB) and D (210GB) two partitions,

that's not reasonable, because the longer you use your computer, the more information you will accumulate, and you'll find that only two partitioned systems are extremely inconvenient to use.

then you don't have to worry, use Vista dynamic partitioning function to repartition D disk.

NTFS format to use dynamic partitioning

To use Vista dynamic partitioning, there is only one condition, that is, the drive file format must be NTFS,

This is because in Vista only the NTFS file-formatted drive has the "Compress volume" feature to implement the following dynamic partitions.

The C disk system disk is in NTFS format, but if D is the FAT32 format, how do you convert it directly to the NTFS format?

On the Vista Start menu, find the command prompt, right-click "Run as Administrator",

Then enter the command: "Convert D:/fs:ntfs" (d is the drive letter D for you to convert). The system can convert the D disk in FAT32 format to NTFS format without prejudice.

split the extra space of D disk

Take d, for example, to see how to repartition it first.

The first step: Right click on the desktop "computer → management", in the Management window, click "Storage → Disk Management."

Step Two: Right click on the D-disk you want to repartition, select "Compress Volume" in the menu, as shown in Figure 1.

Step three: In the window that appears, set the size of the new partition you want, such as 10GB. As shown in Figure 2, click the OK button when you are finished setting.

Fourth step: Wait a bit, we can see the disk manager out of a new blank partition, right click on the new partition,

Click the new Plus simple Volume menu in the menu, as shown in Figure 3. Click Next on the "New Plus Simple volume" wizard until you finish,

In this way, the success of a set out a F disk. After the partition is complete, open the original D disk, and the file still exists.

And so on, if you think one more f is not enough, then compress some of the space from the D disk into a new disk.

This way, until you adjust the large drive to a satisfactory partition. And the partitioning process, you don't have to worry about D-disk data will be affected, it is very convenient to use.

The fifth step: If you are not satisfied with the new partition F from the D disk, you will need to merge the F disk to D and then repartition.

So how do we merge? Under Disk Manager right click on the f disk, click "Delete Volume" (Note: Delete all F data before the transfer or backup).

After the deletion, right click D to select "Extended Volume", all the way to click "Next" until the completion of the "F" and D-disk merge.
