Article title: The Story Behind cancelinux organization convergence. Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. Includes basic categories such as desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems, and open source.

I haven't written any blog about mobile linux in the last six months, mainly because of the comments made by insiders during the integration of LiPS Forum and LiMo Foundation. I personally experienced the creation, development, and termination of LiPS Forum, as well as the negotiation with the LiMo Foundation, until recently I fully participated in the LiMo Foundation work. Many of these things have been shared with you, to make up for this long silence "sin ".

France Telecom Orange, as the initiator of LiPS Forum, has never abandoned its efforts to join the LiMo Foundation. at the beginning, it was a founding member of the LiMo Foundation (NTT DoCoMo, Vodafone, Motorola, NEC/Panasonic) some people explicitly do not want Orange to become a member. this is of course due to competition. However, after a period of development, we found that LiPS Forum could not be broken down, and there was still a risk of lagging behind in the schedule. At this time, the spirit of pragmatism played a role, and the Foundation office proposed to allow France Telecom Orange to join the LiMo Foundation and pursue the founding member, which has been one and a half years since the establishment of LiMo. Of course, this is not unconditional. France Telecom Orange must leave LiPS Forum, and the result is equivalent to directly breaking up LiPS Forum. At that time, I personally opposed it because the LiMo Foundation's organization and work progress were both different from our understanding, and there were great risks. However, as France Telecom's internal debate escalated, the group decided to join LiMo at the decision-making layer meeting, but no one mentioned the additional conditions. We did not give up fighting for more benefits for other members of LiPS Forum. after several rounds of negotiations, all members of LiPS Forum finally won the LiMo Foundation membership, you must know that LiMo's membership fee is six times higher than LiPS Forum.

Although this process, as the founder of LiPS Forum, has some lost feelings, it is a win-win situation to see the results. First of all, France Telecom Orange, a layman from Mobile Linux, to the world's major Mobile Linux operator, takes only four years, and the cost is 1/10 compared with other companies, however, he has successively become a founding member and board member of the LiPS Forum and LiMo Foundation. he has successfully promoted the standardization of Linux on mobile phones and may be the first operator to customize Linux mobile phones in Europe. Second, members of LiPS Forum often do not have the opportunity to be recognized by so-called giants, but due to their important role and achievements (LiPS standards and their implementations ), become a member of the LiMo Foundation. Finally, despite the gathering of Giants, the LiMo Foundation still has a bright future. only by eliminating potential threats and increasing popularity can we win time for success. In addition, the integration of LiPS has nearly doubled the number of members, become a unique Mobile Linux organization.

From this integration, we also found common problems in the industry. First, there is a lack of anti-monopoly awareness. although every major company has top-notch lawyers, some people have made low-level mistakes in this integration process, in addition, the LiMo Foundation may be put into legal disputes. Simply put, under the laws of the United States and Europe, an organization aims to eliminate the competition of an organization by giving certain conditions to its primary members, the anti-monopoly law may be violated. As you can imagine, in the discussions between the two organizations, there are also many vulnerabilities in mail interactions. The second is the popularity and the cloud. I was surprised to find that many large companies did not study it carefully before joining the LiMo organization, which was decided by the bosses, after I joined the team, I had to work hard everywhere for the sake of face and seat, in order to be self-explanatory. We still need to learn from them and hope that we will not make the same mistake again.
