India was a great country that once created ancient civilization. India's overall national strength is not strong, and its per capita GDP is lower than that of China. India's GDP growth rate is not high over the years, and the information industry's infrastructure is also poor, however, India's software industry has outshines. In fact, the rapid development of India's software industry mainly involves government departments playing a major role in it. The magazine published this article, hoping that government departments can learn from India's practices and improve the development of the domestic software industry.
India's software industry is moving forward at a high speed. Why did a country with low GDP growth rate grow into a world software power in a short period of time? This is inseparable from the Indian government's support for software.
According to data, India's software industry has grown at an annual rate of around 1993 since 50%, 1998 ~ In 1999, India's software industry was $3.9 billion, with exports of more than $2.6 billion. It is the second largest software production and export country in the world after the United States. India's software industry accounts for more than 16.7% of the world's software market. Most Indian software products are exported to the United States, followed by Europe. India's software company has contracted the operating software of American Airlines, Swiss Airlines, Singapore Airlines and other airlines, as well as the operating software of the London Metro. Its design technology is superb.
According to a survey by the World Bank, 80% of American companies use India as the preferred market for foreign software sources. It is no wonder that Microsoft's Bill Gates shouted during his visit: "the 21 st century software power is not the United States, nor Europe, but India ."
Policy-guided industrial development
India is a developing country with poor overall national strength. However, the Indian government's development strategy is to start from several major industries and use limited resources and centralized policies to support the development of relevant industries. The result is that India has become the second largest software country in the world.
In the early 1980s S, the Rajiv Gandhi government made it clear that "the e-revolution will be used to bring India into the 21st century ." The starting point of government promotion and policy is the software industry. In 1984, the Indian government promulgated a Computer Policy, specifying the software industry as an industry and obtaining corresponding subsidies and discounts (China's tax incentives and other policies for the software industry were defined in Article 18 of the State Council in 2000 ). In 1986, the Indian government promulgated the computer software export development and training policy, which provided all necessary inputs for software production, such as convenient import and export foreign exchange, financial support, personnel training, transmission of high-speed amounts, simplified investment and import and export procedures, and tax incentives, for example, domestic goods tax exemption and software for import and export production are all used for export, and duties can be exempted.
Among them, the policies for formulating the Software Technology Park plan have become the fuel for India's software boom.
On 1990, the Ministry of Electronics Industry of India announced the first three Software Technology Parks (STP): BangaloRe (BangaloRe), bbanesvanar (Bnubaneshuar) and Pona (Pona ), in 1998, 25 Software Technology Parks were announced. Under the guidance of policies successively promulgated in 1984 and 1986, software enterprises focusing on software science and technology parks have achieved great development, and software manufacturers have benefited a lot.
