Thrift bug triggers thoughts on go Exception Handling Mechanism

The Go language has no exception handling mechanism. In most cases, only panic and recover can be used. Under this mechanism, the errors in the called functions in the function body cannot be handled and can only wait for a crash.


Today, I found that thrift's empty pointer bug in the generated RPC code causes the program to crash. If a function with this bug is called by a try/catch language, it can at least ensure that the program does not crash. However, under the go mechanism, we can only discard some RPC functions.


Therefore, I think the Exception Handling Mechanism of Go needs to be improved.
