Encryption for wireless routers ensures the security of our wireless networks, especially for hackers who steal accounts and network users. Many users who use wireless routers do not know how to encrypt their routes. It is very important to set a password, today, JCG smart wireless is here to share with you the main encryption methods and methods of wireless routers.
I. wireless encryption techniques
If some computers cannot re-establish a session, check the following items: confirm that the encryption method of the wireless router and the wireless network card is the same, and confirm that the wireless router and the wireless network card are in, the phrase used to generate a WEP Key (or a WPA key) is the same. This phrase is case sensitive. For example, p and P are different, so be careful when setting them, note the differences between uppercase and lowercase letters.
If the problem persists, disable encryption in both the wireless router and the wireless network card, and check whether the connection can be established if encryption is not enabled.
Ii. enable WEP for wireless router Encryption
First, let's take a look at how to use this WEP Key to set up a wireless router. When configuring this part, it is best to use Wired connection to connect to the wireless router, because if you enter the wrong wireless key, you will not be able to use the correct key to connect to the wireless router.
Use your Web browser to access the wireless router, and click the wireless parameter label. Enable Security Settings first, select WEP in the line marked with security type, and select hexadecimal in the key format, enter the key and click Save.
Write down this key. After you click Save settings, any computer connected to the wireless router will lose connection. You have modified the communication method between them and the wireless router, but you have not told them what security key they want to use to access the wireless router.
3. Enable WPA for wireless router Encryption
Enabling WPA encryption is similar to enabling WEP encryption. However, before enabling WPA encryption, you must first determine how long the encryption key is valid. If you set it to 1800 seconds, it will take 30 minutes, after the key is used for 30 minutes, the wireless router and the wireless network adapter will generate a new key. If a hacker cracked the key within 30 minutes, it would take less than 30 minutes for the key to be valuable, because it has become another new key after 30 minutes, hackers will have to start cracking again.
In wireless parameters, choose enable security settings, select WPA-PSK, select Security Options WPA-PSK, select encryption method, and enter the PSK password. Enter the pre-shared key where the key is marked with a WPA shared key, and how long the key will be updated when the key is updated. In this example, select 1800 seconds. Click Save settings.
Note: How long should we set the Key Update Time? There is no good answer. If you set it too short, for example, 1-2 minutes, security is indeed improved, but for some NICs, this may lead to some connection problems. We recommend that you use the default value of the manufacturer. To enable WPA encryption, we also need to inform every wireless network adapter of the Super password so that they can know how to decode the call with the wireless router. Set each machine in the wireless home network in sequence. Remember to check whether the machine is connected to the wireless router each time.
The above is the detailed operation configuration for wireless router encryption and detailed instructions on enabling WEP and WPA encryption principles. I believe this article will help you.
