The IP bandwidth control function can be used to allocate and limit bandwidth resources, so that network bandwidth resources can be used more effectively and reasonably, so as to solve the problems caused by reasonable bandwidth allocation.

The following describes the TL-R406 IP bandwidth control settings.

Broadband line type: ADSL or other lines. Please fill in the line type and bandwidth according to your actual situation (for example, 4 m adsl line, the total downstream bandwidth is 4000 Kbps, the uplink bandwidth is 500 Kbps ).

Total downstream bandwidth: The maximum download speed provided by the WAN port, that is, the line bandwidth provided by the ISP.

Total uplink bandwidth: The maximum upload speed available through the WAN port.

Note: To effectively implement bandwidth control, you must enter the upper and lower-line total bandwidth correctly.

To set specific rules for the corresponding IP address, click "add new entry", as shown in the following figure.

IP address range: When you enter an IP address, only the starting address or the starting address and ending address are the same as a single IP address, and the starting address and ending address are the same as the ending address. When it is set to an IP address segment, it means that all IP addresses in this segment willShareThe bandwidth size configured after the bandwidth is used. The total bandwidth they can use is subject to the bandwidth size configured later.

Bandwidth Control: The minimum bandwidth and maximum bandwidth can be guaranteed at the same time, that is, the maximum download speed and the minimum download speed allowed by the WAN port are guaranteed. If the maximum bandwidth is 0, no limit is applied.

Minimum bandwidth guaranteed: the minimum download speed allowed by the WAN port is guaranteed.

Maximum bandwidth limit: the maximum download speed allowed by the WAN port.

Note that the sum of the minimum bandwidth guaranteed by all rules cannot exceed the total downstream bandwidth.

IPExample of bandwidth control rule configuration:

The value of the guaranteed and restricted bandwidth is not fixed. You need to enter the value based on the actual network application. You only need to configure the downstream bandwidth.The proportion of downstream bandwidth multiplied by the total upstream bandwidth.

As shown in the preceding figure:

1. The user's access type is ADSL, and the bandwidth is 4 MB (the total downlink bandwidth is 4000 kbps, and the total uplink bandwidth is 500 Kbps ).

2. rule 1 indicates that the downlink bandwidth assigned to a computer with an IP address of 192.168.1.100 is at least 500 Kbps and 1000 Kbps, and the corresponding uplink bandwidth calculation rule is "(downlink bandwidth/total downlink bandwidth) * Total uplink bandwidth ", so the maximum uplink bandwidth is 62Kbps [(500/4000) * 500] and the maximum uplink bandwidth is 125Kbps [(1000/4000) * 500 ].

3. rule 2 indicates that the total bandwidth allocated to the three computers in the Lan from 192.168.1.101 to 192.168.1.103 is 1500 Kbps and 3000 Kbps, and the uplink bandwidth is 187 Kbps and 375 Kbps.

The following is an exampleIPPractical application of bandwidth control:

A user activates a 4 m bandwidth for the ADSL line and connects four computers to the vro. The IP address range of the computer is 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.103. 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.102 these four computers need to access the Internet frequently, while 192.168.1.103 may only access the internet occasionally.

Users are troubled by the fact that the computer 192.168.1.100 frequently uses download tools such as thunder and BT to download or watch online videos. As a result, the two computers 192.168.1.101 and 192.168.1.102 often suffer from insufficient bandwidth, it is very slow to open a webpage, or even cannot be opened. Therefore, the IP bandwidth control function is used to solve this problem.

Considering the different applications used by these computers to access the Internet: 192.168.1.100 often needs to download and watch online videos, which requires a relatively large bandwidth. 192.168.1.101 and 192.168.1.102 only use web pages and QQ chat to access the Internet, the required bandwidth is relatively small. You only need to set the downstream bandwidth as follows:

① The minimum bandwidth of 192.168.1.100 is limited to 2000 Kbps, and the maximum bandwidth is 2500 Kbps.

② 192.168.1.101-192.168.1.102 shared bandwidth. The minimum bandwidth is 800 Kbps, and the maximum shared bandwidth is 1500 Kbps.

③ The minimum bandwidth (0 Kbps) is not guaranteed to be limited to 192.168.1.103, and the maximum bandwidth used is 500 Kbps.

Note: Although 192.168.1.103 does not frequently access the Internet, you must set it because if it is not set, this means that it will use the total bandwidth of the line without restrictions. Therefore, when setting IP bandwidth control, it is best to set all the IP addresses under the router.
