Tomcat WebApps directory and root directory

What is the difference between the 1,webapps and the root directory?
Basically, just a different HTTP path for Tomcat.

2,webapps directory is working directory so what's the working directory? How does tomcat handle this working directory?
The real working directory is configured in Server.xml, Tomcat for convenience, the default one WebApps without configuration. The configuration here is the mapping of the HTTP directory and the local file directory
