Install VMware Tools

1. Install the compiling environment:
Click "application"> "attachment"> "terminal" in the upper left corner ",
Input: uname-R (Press ENTER)
Enter the Ubuntu kernel version (the following command will be used) and enter:
Sudo apt-Get install build-essential Linux-headers-kernel version

2. click "Virtual Machine"> "Install VMware Tools" in the menu bar of VMware... "(the English version is" VM "->" Install VMware Tools... "). A virtual optical drive will appear on the desktop and open it.

3.copy the file with the suffix ".tar.gz" to the desktop and right-click it to decompress it.

4. Enter:
CD desktop/vmware-tools-distrib (for English versions, enter CD desktop/vmware-tools-distrib)

5. Continue to enter the following information in the terminal:
Sudo./vmware-install.pl
The next step is mechanical operation. If you have any questions, press enter to save time. In the end, we will select the screen resolution (as if it was selected by the number key) and press the size and preference of the computer screen.

6. Last step: restart Ubuntu

Ii. Network Settings

If XP can be connected to the Internet, you can set the VM to enable Ubuntu to access the Internet.

The VM provides three network modes. I chose the NAT mode.

1. Set vmnet8 to automatically obtain IP addresses, automatically obtain DNS servers, and enable it.
2. Set the "local connection" of the operating system in your virtual machine to automatically obtain IP addresses and DNS servers,
3. Select Nat as the VM's Internet access mode.
Right-click the virtual machine you want to set, select "set", select "Ethernet" in "hardware", and change the network connection on the Right To Nat-OK

4. Click "edit" in the menu bar and select "Virtual Network Settings". Remove "automatic bridging" (remove hook ),

5. The two most important services must be enabled: VMware DHCP service and VMWare NAT service.

Make sure that the VMware DHCP service and VMWare NAT service are enabled.

Set IPv4 to manual and enter

1. Click system/System Management/software sources. Enter the user password and click OK. Enter the software sources dialog box.

For example, if the IP address of Windows is 192.168.0.1 and the shared folder is share

Mount-T smbfs-O username = wangyh, password = 123456 // 192.168.0.1/share/mnt/wind
In this case, Chinese characters may be garbled during access, so that we can execute the following command to solve this problem.
Mount-O smbfs-O iocharset = uft8, codePage = cp936, clmask = 777, fmask = 777, userneme = wangyh, password = 123456 // 192.168.0.1/share/mnt/wind

Method 4: Use the smbclient command
To list all the shared directories, run the following command:
Smbclient-l // 192.168.0.1/-u yourname
Enter the smb password and you will see the shared directory list.
For example, run the following command to share the shared directory:
Smbclient // 192.168.0.1/share-u yourname
