1 First set the root password, use the existing administrator account to access Ubuntu, the terminal execution command: sudo passwd root, and then enter the password and root password, repeat the password. This will have the root user available.

2 Open a terminal, modify the permissions of this file gdm.conf (default is read-only property), use sudo chmod 777/etc/gdm/gdm.conf to modify file permissions.

3 Open this file and find Allowroot=false to change it to allowroot=true switch user.
