Skype recently released a small update for the Linux system, including fixing PulseAudio 3.x and 4.x audio noise problems on Ubuntu to address the lack of libasound2-plugins: i386 and others cause crashes on Ubuntu/Debian 64-bit systems.

If you are using Skype on Ubuntu, you may want to upgrade to get these fixes. This version is not new except for solving these problems.

This is based on the complete repair list of changelog.

  • Temporarily solves the problems of PulseAudio 3.x and 4.x audio noise.
  • Bug fixes: crashes when you open a chat without emojis.
  • Bug fixes failed to crash on Ubuntu/Debian 64-bit systems due to missing libasound2-plugins: i386 dependencies.
  • Bug fixes: Some dial panel numbers cannot work properly.

For Ubuntu users, here is how to update.

If you have already installed Skype, uninstall it before updating it because it may create files that conflict with the current installation.

To Remove Skype from Ubuntu, run the command on the terminal.

Sudo apt-get autoremove -- purge skype

After uninstalling Skype, go to the Skype download page and obtain the latest version in Ubuntu. Save the download and open it in the Ubuntu Software Center.

Because the software center must download additional Skype packages, it may take some time to install them. Please be patient.

If you encounter problems when installing Skype in the Software Center, go to the download folder and run the following command to force the following command to install Skype.

Sudo dpkg-I skype-ubuntu *. deb; sudo apt-get-f install

After installing Skype, go to the Unity panel and run the latest version 4.2.0.14.

That's it! Enjoy it!
