Ubuntu Uninstall install MySQL

First remove MySQL:

sudo apt-get remove mysql-*
    • 1

And then clean up the remaining data.

-l |grep ^rc|awk ‘{print $2}‘ |sudo xargs dpkg -P
    • 1

It will jump out of a dialog box and you can choose Yes
Then install MySQL

sudo apt-get install mysql-client mysql-server
The installation will prompt you to set the root password, if you do not have to clean up the residual data during uninstallation will not prompt you to set the root password
Check that MySQL is not running

sudo service mysql status
    • 1

The general installation will run automatically after it is completed.
If not running you can

sudo service mysql start
    • 1
