1. One computer, Windows operating system (my computer is Windows XP ). Taking my computer as an example, the hard disk is divided into four disks: C:, D:, E:, F:, and an optical drive G :. My E: there is plenty of space available, so I am going to download the Ubuntu CD image file. F: I divided the disk into 32 GB and prepared to install ubuntu. Why 32 GB? I will explain it in the next step.
2. Partition magic 8.0 Chinese Simplified version, used to plan partitions in windows. My original F: only 20 GB space is allocated. I plan to use it as 30 GB. Please search online) however, if you just split the f disk into 30 GB, then you can only use 20 GB space in the partition option for wubi installation. Therefore, you must divide the f disk into 32 GB space, in this way, UBUNTU can be used for 30 GB of space. Here is a problem, no matter how big my F: minute, for example, 50 GB, but in wubi, a maximum of 30 GB space can be allocated to Ubuntu. I think this should not be a bug, because the FAT32 format supports up to 32 GB space management. The wubi installation method is to install Ubuntu in windows, therefore, 30 GB space is limited to take care of the FAT32 format. Could you please advise me if I understand it correctly? Can we force wubi to allocate more space for Ubuntu?
3. CD image file. This can be downloaded for free on the Ubuntu website, but it is a CD version. I have not found the DVD version, but it is a DVD version downloaded on the donkey. Pay attention to the downloaded file name. The file name for the CD version should be: ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.iso, and the file name for the DVD version is: ubuntu-8.10-dvd-i386.iso. In fact, the DVD version can not be used, but I only have a LAN, no Internet, and I cannot update the Ubuntu language online. Therefore, I have to download the DVD version. If there is an Internet connection and the speed is fast, no DVD is needed.
4、wubi.exe. This file is in the CD-version CD image and can be decompressed using WinRAR (or ultraiso.
　　2. Start wubi to install ubuntu8.10.
1. First, perform a quick format for F: (back up important data !), I use the NTFS format. Then copy wubi.exe and ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.iso to the F: disk, double-hitting wubi.exe.
2. In the pop-up "ubuntu installation" window, select F for "installation drive", 30 for "installation size", and default for "desktop environment" and "language, "User Name" is filled with zhf (you must remember it if you enter it at will, but it cannot be an uppercase English character. Why ?), "Password" I enter 123456 (you must remember it if you set it yourself ). Then install it. The installation speed is very fast. When the window prompts you to complete the installation, make sure that "yes, restart now" is selected. Click "finish" to restart the system.
3. Do not leave the computer! After the computer restarts, the Startup menu appears. By default, Windows XP is started! Use the up/down key to select Ubuntu and press enter to start installation. You do not need to participate in the installation process, but please wait and do not leave.
4. After the installation is complete, the system restarts automatically again. By default, Windows XP is started. Then, use the upper and lower keys to select Ubuntu and press enter to go to the system?
5. Enter zhf (this is my user name. You just set it up, won't you forget it ?), Press enter and enter password 123456 (or mine, remember it yourself !). A strange piece of music sounded, and Ubuntu appeared. Is it English? Why is there no Chinese input method? Me !!!
　　3. Use a DVD to update Chinese support of the system.

1. My DVD image file ubuntu-8.10-dvd-i386.iso is placed on E: disk, how can I use it? Note that the top left of the desktop is the menu. Click "Places" in the menu and click "123.6 GB Media" in the drop-down menu. This is my E: disk, you must be different from mine.
2. The "authenticate" window pops up, prompting you to enter the password, enter the previously set password (my password is 123456), and click authenticate.
3. At this time, the system will mount and open my E: disk. Note that a triangle pop-up button will appear on the right side of the 123.6 GB media under places on the left of the window, click it. E: the disk will be detached and closed. If it is disabled, it will be mounted once again. Copy the ubuntu-8.10-dvd-i386.iso file, click "Places" in the menu, select the first item "Home folder", and right-click and paste in the blank area. After the copy is complete, you can unmount the E: disk.
4. Click "application"-"attachment"-"terminal" in the menu to open the terminal window. Then enter:

5. Click "System"-"System Management"-"language support" in the menu. A pop-up window will show you "no language information avaliable" and click "Update. The system starts to automatically update the index file and so on. Don't worry about it. Wait.
6. At this time, the window becomes normal. You can select the language at the top of the window. Find the "Chinese" option and select the "single answer" option, click "Apply". Wait.
7. When everything recovers, "close" all windows, click the red button in the top-right corner of the desktop, select "restart", and restart. Then go to the system. Oh, perfect Chinese support.
