Many home users access the residential broadband through ADSL dial-up Internet access. When using this method to access the Internet, they often encounter a failure in dial-up Internet access! Fault symptom

In order to be able to play online games more refreshingly, I always like to overload the computer display card by using the superfrequency method, but in the last time I played games, suddenly a restart occurs and a black screen appears.

When a fault occurs, I subconsciously think that the fault is caused by the high temperature of the display card after a long time of overclock operation or poor contact with the display card, so I immediately turn off the power of the computer, after the display card is naturally cooled down, it is carefully pulled out from the motherboard. After a while, it is inserted into the motherboard correctly.

Indeed, when the computer is powered on again, I found that the screen black screen has been successfully solved. However, when I double-click the dial-up connection icon on the system desktop and click the "Connect" button on the page to prepare for surfing the Internet, the screen displays "Connecting ......" After a while, the corresponding Prompt window is in the "false" status.

Troubleshooting

When encountering such a fault, I thought it was a problem with the dial-up connection line, but I checked the display status of the chain street lights and signal lights in the NIC control panel and found that they were all normal, this indicates that the line connection between the NIC device of the Local Computer and the Community switch is reliable and correct.

Since the dial-up connection line is smooth, why can't I perform dial-up Internet access on a local computer?

Before plugging the display card, I can perform dial-up operations normally, which indicates that the dial-up parameters in the local computer are correct, in addition, the virtual dial-up program errors, network virus attacks, and other factors are basically ruled out. Why is there a failure of dial-up access after the display card is plugged in and out? Is there a resource conflict between the NIC device and the re-inserted display card device, resulting in the failure of the NIC device to work properly?

I want to do so, immediately turn off the computer power, and quickly turn on the host chassis, then the NIC device is moved from one slot to another slot, and then turn on the computer power, and re-performed dial-up Internet access operations, but such efforts did not achieve any substantive results.

After this kind of failure, I estimate that the NIC device installed on my computer may have a hardware fault, so I went to the market to purchase a new Nic device, then carefully install the new Nic device to the computer according to the correct method, and reconfigure the NIC parameters. However, when I attempt to dial the Internet again, you still cannot connect to the Internet.

In desperation, I had to call the local ISP to seek their help.

After the technicians arrived at the fault, they first tested the connectivity of the network cable and found that the network line was connected normally. After inserting the tested network cable into the laptop, and then performing the dial-up surfing operation, I soon saw the prompt that the dial was successful, and I was able to freely access any content in the Internet, obviously, there is no problem with the residential broadband network and line connection.

So why can't I dial up the Internet when the network cable is connected to my computer?

After hearing a detailed description of the fault, the technician thought it was probably caused by the NIC device of the local computer, he believes that some old models of adaptive Nic devices may be "allergic" to other hardware plugging operations, which may easily lead to some hidden faults of NIC devices, or the computer system cannot correctly identify the NIC device, so the dial-up failure will occur.

Right-click my computer on the desktop of the computer system, and execute the "properties" command from the shortcut menu to enter the system Properties dialog box on the local computer, click the "hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button on the corresponding tab page to open the device list interface of the system. On the list page, double-click the "Network Adapter" option with the mouse, and the yellow exclamation point appears on the device icon of the target Nic under the branch that is expanded later, obviously, the NIC device and the display card device have a resource conflict. It is precisely because of this sudden conflict that the NIC device cannot connect to the dial-up server and eventually causes the dial-up failure.

Troubleshooting

After finding the cause of the failure, we only need to re-configure the appropriate settings for the NIC device so that the computer system can correctly identify the NIC device and solve the failure of dial-up access, when you reset the NIC device, follow these steps:

First, follow the previous steps to open the System Device Manager window, and double-click the "Network Adapter" option in this window, select the target Nic device icon under the branch that is expanded later, right-click the icon, and then right-click the "properties" command in the menu to open the Property setting interface of the NIC device.

Click the "advanced" tab on the property settings page To Go To The tag settings page.

Select the "Link Speed/Duplex Mode" option in the "properties" list box on the page, and then in the "value" drop-down list on the right of the option, select any option except "Auto Negotiation", click "OK", and restart the computer system.

After the system is restarted successfully, the network cable is re-inserted into the NIC device and the dial-up Internet access is attempted. As a result, the fault is ruled out and the NIC device works properly.

To sum up the troubleshooting process above, I believe that the NIC is a device that is "allergic" to the plugging and removal operations of other hardware devices. When we inadvertently perform hardware plugging, the performance of the network adapter may change quietly, and the system may not be able to identify it accurately, so that various inexplicable network faults may easily occur.
