Update of MySQL in PHP
The UPDATE statement is used to modify data tables.
Update database data
The UPDATE statement is used to UPDATE an existing record table.
Syntax
UPDATE table_nameSET column1=value, column2=value2,...WHERE some_column=some_value
Note: Pay attention to the update syntax of the WHERE clause. The records or records specified by the WHERE clause should be updated.
If you ignore the WHERE clause, all records will be updated!
For more information about SQL, see our SQL tutorial.
To allow PHP to execute the preceding Declaration, we must use the mysql_query () function. This function is a MySQL connection used to send queries or commands.
For example
In the previous tutorial, we created a table named "person ". The following is how it looks forward:
FirstName |
LastName |
Age |
Peter |
Griffin in |
35 |
Glenn |
Quagmire |
33 |
<?php$con = mysql_connect("localhost","peter","abc123");if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); }
mysql_select_db("my_db", $con);mysql_query("UPDATE Persons SET Age = '36'WHERE FirstName = 'Peter' AND LastName = 'Griffin'");
mysql_close($con);?>
After update, the "person" table looks like this:
FirstName |
LastName |
Age |
Peter |
Griffin in |
36 |
Glenn |
Quagmire |
33 |
