Upgrade and uninstall DomainsADThis article lists an example to describe how to upgrade the Active Directory. The specific content is as follows.

During this period of time, the study of AD caused a slight fear in the morning. He seemed to have realized this kind of negative mentality, hoping to find some motivation from some subtle combinations of words. "If we believe it, one will open it to us !" In the morning, I read the lines that I don't know where to see to encourage myself. That's right, Think hard and try hard

A said that although Windows Server 2003 has been released for some time, many networks are still using Windows 2000 Server. Considering that Windows Server 2003 AD has added important features such as "cross-forest trust relationships", "Domain rename", and "Architecture revocation" to simplify the deployment process, therefore, it is recommended that the network administrator upgrade the existing AD to Windows Server 2003 AD.

The upgrade of AD is actually part of the upgrade of the operating system attached to the DC. The upgrade from Windows 2000 Server AD to Windows Server 2003 AD is used as an example, A Hao briefly talked about how to upgrade AD.

Upgrade domain

Before upgrading, check whether the hardware configuration of the Server meets the minimum requirements of Windows Server 2003. In addition, the system compatibility check should be conducted to check whether the current hardware configuration and software version of the computer are compatible with Windows Server 2003 series.

Morning notes: the installation CD of Windows Server 2003 provides the system compatibility check function. After attaching the installation disc to the optical drive and running it automatically, click the "check system compatibility" button to complete the check under the guidance of the wizard.

The process of upgrading the AD domain is divided into two major steps: preparing the Active Directory and domain, and upgrading the main system. The upgrade procedure is as follows:

1. Prepare the Active Directory and domain

When Windows 2000 ServeDomain ControllerBefore upgrading to Windows Server 2003 or installing Active Directory on the first domain controller running Windows Server 2003, make sure that the Server, forest, and domain are ready. You can use the "adprep" command on "architecture operation host" and "structure operation host" to prepare the forest and domain. The Domain Controller here refers to "architecture operation host ". This process includes checking the server's upgrade compatibility, preparation, and preparation domain. You can use the commands provided by the system to complete these tasks.

(1) Prepare Lin

Step 2: Use the Administrator identity as the guest Domain Controller and place the Windows Server 1st installation CD into the optical drive. In the "command prompt" window, type the following command line "adprep/forestprep" and press Enter. After a moment, the prompt Message 1 is displayed.

Morning notes: before running the adprep command, all Windows 2000 Server domain controllers in this forest must be upgraded to Windows 265089 Service Pack 1 (SP1) with "QFE 2000 ), or upgrade to Windows 2000 SP2. Because "QFE 265089 (including in Windows 2000 SP2 and later versions)" can prevent possible Domain Controller corruption.

In step 2, enter the command "C" and press Enter. The system loads various projects to be modified and automatically completes the modification. After a period of time, the forest information is updated, 2.

(2) Prepare the domain

After preparing the forest data to copy the entire forest, you can prepare a domain for upgrading to Windows Server 2003. The domain preparation operation must be performed on the "structured operation host" of each domain in the forest. Here, the domain controller acts as the "structured operation host. In the "command prompt" window, type the following command line "adprep/domainprep" and press Enter. After a moment, the global information is successfully updated.

Morning notes: you cannot upgrade the domain controller running Windows 2000 Server to Windows Server 2003 before using adprep to prepare the Lin domain, or add the domain controller running Windows Server 2003 to the Windows 2000 domain.

After the data in the prepared domain is copied to the entire domain, you can upgrade the domain controller by running the "i386 \ winnt32.exe" command on the Windows Server 2003 installation disc, in fact, these operations will be completed during the upgrade of the main system.
