Shared Internet access has always been a hot topic in the Internet of home. related website magazines have also put forward a lot of implementation methods, but many operations are still at the theoretical level, sometimes we are confused. In fact, shared Internet access mainly follows a simple and stable principle, reflecting the goal of doing the most with the least money. The following is a sharing online Installation Practice.

Network Environment Description:

A house with a duplex structure is shared with ADSL in a room upstairs, with a laptop in it; a notebook in the living room downstairs and a desktop in the study; the purpose is to allow the three computers to share the internet. Because the computer is far away from each other, You must select the most practical solution. After thinking, the author planned the following two solutions:

1. Select the adsl modem + switch with the routing function. Use adsl modem as a shared Internet server, and other computers can connect to the Internet through a switch. Obviously, the biggest feature of this method is that you do not need to use a single computer as a shared server. Three computers can be used at any time and can be set to automatic dialing in the MODEM, as long as the MODEM and switch are continuously powered, the three computers are online when they are started. However, some MODEM enable the routing function and other computers dynamically allocate IP addresses through DHCP, therefore, mutual file transmission and other accesses are not allowed. In addition, enabling the MODEM routing function will also affect the network speed. The solution is shown in 1:

2. Use three NICs. That is, three NICs are installed in the computer of the ADSL access area, one connecting the computer line, the other two NICs are connected to the other two computers through twisted pair wires, and the other two computers are installed with one Nic. This method requires the simplest hardware and can be set to share the Internet with the server. Because each computer has a fixed IP address, mutual access is possible; in addition, the shared connections in the network can be well managed. This method can be considered when you do not want to add additional devices. However, the existing problems are also obvious: it is quite troublesome to set up the three NICs in the software aspect, and if a computer that is set as a shared server does not start up, other hosts will not be able to access the Internet.

Through the comparison above, we finally decided to adopt the first solution. Although the installation was relatively cumbersome, it was almost unnecessary to set software. If three NICs were used, too many network cables are also troublesome in the house.
