It can be said that if your network has a loophole, or your firewall has holes, or your server is open port, then your network is vulnerable to attack, the risk of damage.

The first strike is strong. To prevent others from destroying their own network, first to their own "ruthless" point. We can use the method that the hacker uses to test our system first.

工欲善其事, its prerequisite. What tools should you choose? Here we recommend Nmap. Nmap is a free open source utility that can be used for probing and security audits of the network.

Many network administrators also find it for the network device survey, management Service upgrade plan, monitoring the host or service uptime. Nmap uses IP packets to determine which hosts are available on the network, what services these hosts are providing, what operating systems they operate, what types of filters or firewalls are used, and of course many other features. It is designed to quickly scan large networks, but it works well for some stand-alone hosts. Nmap can be run on all major computer operating systems, and supports both console and graphics versions.

Windows Support

Nmap runs on Windows 2000 and Windows XP platforms and cannot run on systems such as Windows 98, ME, CE, and so on.

Set Scan

Nmap allows multiple scanning options. It probes for the detected hosts in the network according to the selected scan options and display nodes.

We can create a range that needs to be scanned so that you don't have to type in a lot of IP addresses and hostnames.

Scan a range of IP addresses

Can scan a single host or a range of hosts, scanning can be based on the host name, also can be based on IP address. For example, to scan all hosts from 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.9 range, you should type: 192.168.1.3-9, as shown in:

498) this.style.width=498; " >

Click "Scan" to scan.

When scanning, you can also replace any part of the IP address with "*".

such as 192.168.1.* (equivalent to 192.168.1.1-255)

If you want to scan a larger range of hosts, you can enter:

192.168.1,2,3.*

This scans all the addresses in the 192.168.1.0,192.168.2.0,192.168.3.0 three networks.

To scan a larger network, you can enter: 192.168.*.*

If you want to set up different profiles for network scans, you can scan the network host in different ways by clicking the Drop-down list after profile and selecting options such as "Operating system detection", "quick scan", and so on.

Nmap Check the open ports on the host

Let's look at how to scan open ports for a network host:

As shown in the text box after target, enter "192.168.1.12", select "Intense Scan" from the Drop-down list after "Profile", and click Scan. After a while, you will see the following window: (Do you notice the information we selected?) )

498) this.style.width=498; " >

The information selected in this figure is the port that is being opened by the scanned host, and as an administrator should check to see if the service for these ports is actually needed.
