In today's enterprise environments, the dramatic increase in devices is inevitable. Therefore, monitoring networks and devices has become a challenge for network administrators. Hundreds of thousands of servers need to be monitored, and we need a more centralized management mode. There are also a lot of management software available for us to use, very convenient, today we introduce a simple management software SolarWinds through snmp Simple Network Management Protocol implementation. Before learning about these operations, you must first understand some terms in snmp.

Managed Devices: as the name suggests, the monitored and managed servers and other devices, route exchange, and PC can also be monitored and managed objects.

Managed agents: These managed devices reside. The processing entities that work with network management are called managed agents. This is abstract. We have conceived the following environment: vroa A directly connects to vrob B and vrob B directly connects to the PC used for monitoring. When vroa A fails, it cannot send A warning to the PC itself, therefore, vrob B needs to be sent on its behalf. vrob B becomes the managed proxy of vroa.

Network management workstation: Any manageable network has a network management workstation for monitoring and managing managed devices.

Network Management Information Library: a collection of information that can be managed on all managed devices.

Network Management Protocol: rules.

Another note is that SNMP collects data in two ways: polling and self-trapping. Round Robin is a periodic query. When a device encounters a problem, data is automatically sent to the network management workstation. When configuring round robin, SNMP is sent by the port 161 of the managed proxy. Therefore, you only need to configure SNMP on the managed proxy, and the self-contained port 162 is used for sending and receiving, therefore, SNMP must be configured on both sides.

Next, let's take A look at the specific operation. The experiment environment is shown above. Use vroa A and B for direct connection, B for direct connection to PC, and PC for network management workstation.

The connection information is as follows:

XPC P0/0 <----> Router1 F0/0
Router1 F1/0 <----> Router2 F1/0

First, configure the network information to implement network communication.

IP address planning: PC 192.168.0.1 RA F0/0 192.168.0.2 RA F1/0 192.168.1.2 RB 192.168.1.1

After the network environment is set up, we will install the SolarWinds software on the network management workstation. The installation process is simple and will not be described here.

After installation is complete, find this option 650 in the Start Menu.) this. width = 650; "style =" border-right-0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px "title =" image "border =" 0 "alt =" image "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/091134GR-6.png "width =" 239 "height =" 26 "/> open to view the Management Interface.

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-right-0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px "title =" image "border =" 0 "alt =" image "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/09113443c-7.png "width =" 104 "height =" 471 "/> This is what the SolarWinds software loves you management Interface, very friendly. Below we will briefly introduce several of the features.

First, select ip network browser for network management. In the wizard section, we will enter the name of a community. The community is used for authentication between management and managed, and can be managed only when the community name is the same.

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-right-0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px "title =" image "border =" 0 "alt =" image "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/0911342F1-8.png "width =" 644 "height =" 440 "/>

You can search for three options: IP address at the top, network number in the middle, and network range at the bottom.

Now we need to configure the same community on the managed devices before managing them.

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-right-0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px "title =" image "border =" 0 "alt =" image "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/0911342314-9.png "width =" 454 "height =" 30 "/>

By default, the solarwinds community is also public, so we will not set it here. Then we can scan again.

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-right-0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px "title =" image "border =" 0 "alt =" image "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/0911344D5-10.png "width =" 237 "height =" 250 "/> to scan the same community the machine, in fact, different devices in the community can also scan, but cannot view information and operations.

Let's test the self-traps.

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-right-0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px "title =" image "border =" 0 "alt =" image "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/0911345555-11.png "width =" 88 "height =" 22 "/> On this tab, select 650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-right-0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px "title =" image "border = "0" alt = "image" src = "http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/09113440X-12.png" width = "77" height = "76"/>. Because it is in self-trap mode, you need to configure SNMP on the local machine.

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-right-0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px "title =" image "border =" 0 "alt =" image "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/09113453H-13.png "width =" 374 "height =" 45 "/> in windows 2003, install SNMP by adding or deleting a program. When you enable or disable the function of windows on windows 2008 or 7, select SNMP. After selecting, open the service.

The installation is complete, and 650 more will be performed.) this. width = 650; "style =" border-right-0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px "title =" image "border =" 0 "alt =" image "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/0911343364-14.png "width =" 481 "height =" 48 "/> services, select "snmp service" and "properties. Set the community in the trap.

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-right-0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px "title =" image "border =" 0 "alt =" image "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/0911344501-15.png "width =" 349 "height =" 222 "/>

Then configure self-traps on the controlled vro. When someone uses conf to enter the global mode of the vro, a warning is sent.

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-right-0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px "title =" image "border =" 0 "alt =" image "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/0911341V1-16.png "width =" 548 "height =" 66 "/>

Then set the self-trapped community.

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-right-0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px "title =" image "border =" 0 "alt =" image "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/0911342420-17.png "width =" 793 "height =" 439 "/>

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-right-0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px "title =" image "border =" 0 "alt =" image "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/091134AO-18.png "width =" 473 "height =" 263 "/>

Then we exit and re-enter global mode.

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px "title =" 1.1 "border =" 0 "alt =" 1.1 "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/09113415G-19.png "" 785 "height =" 428 "/>

You can see the warning message sent in self-trapped mode.

You can also set self-traps to monitor the link status. When the link status is DOWN, a warning is sent to the network management workstation.

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px "title =" 1.2 "border =" 0 "alt =" 1.2 "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/0911341519-20.png "" 351 "height =" 21 "/>

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px "title =" 1.3 "border =" 0 "alt =" 1.3 "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/0911342228-21.png "" 485 "height =" 26 "/>

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px "title =" 1.4 "border =" 0 "alt =" 1.4 "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/0911345114-22.png "" 389 "height =" 26 "/>

These configurations must be configured on the managed proxy. That is, on the frontend device of the managed device, the link is down after the configuration is complete.

650) this. width = 650; "style =" border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px "title =" 1.5 "border =" 0 "alt =" 1.5 "src =" http://www.bkjia.com/uploads/allimg/131227/091134M03-23.png "" 774 "height =" 104 "/>

You can also receive a warning.
