Many people have encountered the following problems:
1. Using Log shipping, how can applications be forwarded to the secondary server if the primary server has a problem?
2. If I want to migrate the database to another server, I don't want to modify the program. What should I do?
We can use the SQL Server alias to address the above two problems:
SQL Server Configuration Manager->SQL native client Configuration-> NewAliases
During the configuration process, we need to enter the database server address, port, and protocol used. After the configuration is complete, we can use it in the DB connection.
The following is an alias created on my machine and connected to the alias using management studio. The server name in the configuration is displayed. In this way, we only need to change the alias and do not need to change the application to solve the two problems mentioned above.
