Use xcopy to copy a large number of files in windows.

Task: Copy 79881 files. These files are distributed in 791 folders. The total occupied space IS 3.42 GB.

 

Four replication methods are used:
1. Use the resource manager to copy files for about one hour
2. UseProgramTraverse folders and copy a single file. It takes 30 minutes to copy the file. The program is written in Python.
3. Use a program to traverse folders and multi-threaded single file replication. The more test results threads, the slower the replication, and the faster the single thread. The program is written in Python.
4. Run the doscommand xcopy to copy the file. It takes 29 minutes to copy the file.

Conclusion: xcopy is the most efficient method to copy a large number of files in windows.
