Using GParted to adjust the expansion of Linux partitions


when the hard disk uses Standardpartition, instead of LVM partitioning, it is very inconvenient for the subsequent expansion of hard disk space.

System environment: Centos 6.9 x64


This document environment is Centos 6.9, is the use of the standard partition Partitioning method, it can only be adjacent to the free partition near sda5 space to grow, for the former sda2 powerless.

Partition Structure Description (command lsblk view):

Sda1/root 500M

Sda2/opt 20G

Sda3 Swap 4G

SDA4 Extended Partition

sda5/40g

Operation Steps:

1, First in the centos6.9 , use the command CFDISK/DEV/SDA to create a partition of the free space,(Write) after saving reboot re-boot and enter the Centos system again.

2. Boot with gparted-live-0.28.1-1-amd64.iso disc or boot gparted-live from PXE.

CD-ROM download site for http://gparted.org/download.php

3,Choose The Chinese language environment, and then press enter into the xwindows.

4,Gparted software, you will see the last surface of the Sda6 space. All we have to do is adjust the Sda5 to the maximum space. on the Sda5 , right-click onthe "Apply" button and select "apply".

5,Select sda6, then click "Delete" to delete it, click on the "apply" app.

6, then select Sda5, right-click "Resize", change the size to the maximum value, when finished, click on the "apply" app.

7, finally again in Sda5 right click "Check" Once, and "Apply".

8, after all operations, exit Gparted software, restart, into the CentOS system, using the command df-th found sda5 partition becomes larger.
