Win2000 server is more convenient in networking. For example, in the local area network to establish web, Ftp, mail, ICQ services, and the client can also be very convenient to share the Internet. Suppose we have established a total linear or star topology in the physical structure. We set up the software in the following way.

First, create Web, FTP, Mail, ICQ server

Several protocols are usually installed in the WINDOWS2000 network: TCP/IP protocol, NWLink (ipx/spx), NetBEUI protocol, etc.

The first server setting allows you to choose to install the domain controller (this is not the same as Winnt). Active Directory Wizard to complete (compounding server). For example, my domain name is defined as FGJ, and the server is upgraded to a domain controller. Install the Web server. Its Server software installs Internet Information Services IIS and clicks in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to add. In Administrative Tools, click Internet Server Management, right-click the default Web site, select Properties, choose "192.168.0.92" in "Web Site", "IP address", and other options with the system's default values. Also in the "Default FTP Site" in the "IP Address" selected "192.168.0.93" other default values can be used.

Mail server installation, install Foxmail to install 192.168.0.1 under Foxmail installation DNS. Where the POP3 server and SMTP server are filled in with Mail.fgj.com, the other Settings install the wizard prompts.

ICQ can install Tencent Oicq, in the SMTP address the general bar can enter the Emal address that has just been established: mail.fgj.com, you can use its default port number, such as 8000, other default settings.

(2) Client machine settings:

Use Win9x in the Control Panel "network" in the "TCP/IP" IP address bar input 192.168.0.2, (other microcomputers can be set to 192.168.0.3, etc.), subnets are 255.255.255.0 Enter the IP address in the DNS configuration bar 192.168.0.1 reboot. Client Oicq Install the address of the server: Oicq.fgj.com installed successfully.

Second, the realization of the network domain of the total Heng Internet

Previously through proxy server software such as Wingate, Sygate, Wingate to realize the sharing of the Internet, and Win2000 is easy to share. The following is a specific description.

It is easier to share the Internet in Win2000 within a LAN.

(1) Select Start-> program-> attachment-> Communication-> dial-up networking-> New Connection

(2) Follow the prompts to create a dial-up network, such as fgj163

(3) Selection. Start-> program-> attachment-> Communication-> Dial-Up Networking, right-click on the new Dial-up network and select a total

Also require that the IP address of the other computers in the local domain be set to or use the IP address you have just set up (you can use the automatic IP address, of course)

This allows you to use Win2000 to provide a shared dial-up networking feature for your convenience. In the local network you can enter www.fgj.com login to your Server home page, dial-up networking, you can also browse the Internet site. A very powerful small LAN has been built up.

Not only can we connect to the home network of the computer through the LAN network adapter, but we can also connect the home computer to the Internet.
