Recently, our company deployed virtualization, purchased two Dell R710 Server (cpu:64 dual-core, frequency: 2.4GHZ, 32G memory, hard disk: 2 300G do Riad 1, 3 block 2T do Riad 5, 10 block network card), VMware ESX 5.0 was installed on both servers because the virtualization knowledge was only used by some of the client's virtual machine software, groping to today, encountered a lot of problems, looked up a lot of information, took a lot of detours, with the problem to solve the problem of the process, Some knowledge of the virtualization system, the process of writing down today, one to do a summary, and second for the future to leave a reference material!

Installing the VMware ESX5.0 on the Dell PowerEdge R710server

First, configure the Dell PowerEdge R710

When we got to two servers, we started to prepare, but found that one of the servers could not detect the hard disk, according to Dell's random instructions, the way to restore the BIOS initial setup has been resolved, in order to prepare for the same situation in the future, I will be the description of the solution to record down!

(Warning: Because there are RAID settings on the server, please use it carefully, and the default settings can cause data loss!) Because we are new machines, no data, so ignore! Oh

1. Press F2 to enter BIOS setting when booting

2. Press Capsulelock, Num Lock, Scrol lock to light the three lights on the keyboard respectively.

3, first press alt+e combination, clear the NVRAM, and then press ALT+F combination, then the system will issue a "drip" sound, indicating that the BIOS recovery is successful, then the integrated array card will be closed, must enter the Integrateddevices and again open

4. Press ESC to select Save/exit Save the changes, start the machine again, and the system will automatically detect all of the computer's devices, the screen will appear performing automic IDE Configuration

Configuring the Dell RAID Array card

(Warning: Data loss may occur during RAID operations, so be sure to back up your data)

1, at Post when prompted to select Ctrl+r Enter the Configuration interface

2, according to the virtual Disk Manager at the bottom of the screen prompts, in the VD Mgmt menu, press F2 to expand the virtual Disk creation menu, create a form on the virtual disk, press ENTER to select the Create new VD creates a virtual disk

3, in the RAID level option press ENTER, you can appear the RAID levels that can be supported, select the RAID type RAID 1 (System)/raid 5 (data), enter confirm

4. After confirming the raid level, press the DOWN ARROW key, move the cursor to the physical Disks list, move the cursor up or down to the hard drive location you want to select, press SPACEBAR to select (remove) the hard drive in the list, and when the selected hard drive sets the required requirements to reach this raid type, the basic on the right side The Setting VD size can display the default capacity information for this raid, with the X marked as the selected hard drive

5, after the above configuration confirmation, press the TAB key to move the cursor to OK, enter the prompt, assume that a new array, it is recommended to initialize the operation, assuming that the purpose of configuring the array is to restore the previous data, do not initialize, press ENTER to confirm that you can continue

6, after configuration, will return to the VD Mgmt main interface, the cursor moved to virtual Disk 0 in the diagram, press ENTER, can see the virtual disk information that was successfully configured, press ESC to return to the main interface, in this interface, the cursor moved to Virtualdisk 0 out, Press F2 to expand the menu for this virtual hard disk operation

7. Ability to initialize virtual Disk 0 for a successful configuration (initialization), consistency check code (CONSISTENCYCHECK)

8, Power on press F2, change the CPU operation mode, enable virtualization Technology virtualization Technology

Second, start installing ESX, boot from CD, enter the installation interface

2. Start copying the required files for the operating system

3. Initializing the program

4. Press ENTER to continue

5, according to F11, accept and allow

6, the system is scanning the hard disk

7. Select the correct system hard drive (Raid 1)

8. Select the default keyboard and press ENTER

9. Enter a password and confirm

10. Scan and prepare for installation

11. Confirm the installed hard drive and press F11 to install

12, is installing please wait

13, press ENTER, Reboot

14, the system on its own initiative to start again

15, the first installation, again after the start, will enter the following interface

16, press F2 to enter the configuration interface

17, input usernameroot, password, login system

18, choose Configure Management Network, enter

19. Configure DNS

20. Configure the Custom DNS suffixes

21. Press ESC to return to the main interface and press Y to save the settings

22. Check the settings and try to ping the ESX server IP

Third, using the client software vsphere Client remote login ESX system

After installing vsphere Client, enter Username/password login ESX system
