VMWare installs Ubuntu 12.04 to enable the Unity Mode of the VM, which is very difficult to find a solution because both VMWare and Ubuntu have Unitiy. The former refers to Unity Mode, the latter refers to the Unity Shell. My host operating system is Windows 7. Install VMWare 9.0.1 and run Ubuntu 12.04 on the VM. When I try to switch VMWare to Unity Mode, I get The following information: the virtual machine cannot enter Unity mode because:-Unity is not supported on The guest operating system. solution: Enter sudo add-apt-repository ppa in the terminal: gnome3-team/gnome3 sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install gnome-shell after the update is complete, log out, select Gnome Classic-No Effects desktop to enter Unity mode.
