Wmware5.5.2. After the installation is complete, there are two connections in Windows: VMWare network adapter vmnet1 and VMWare network adapter vmnet8.
Configure the network in virtual network settings under the Virtual Machine menu item edit.
The IP address of the Windows host is 192.168.1.123. VMware uses Nat to access the Internet. In the virtual network editor dialog box, configure vmnet8, IP Address: 192.168.235.0, and subnet mask: 255.255.255.0. (The IP address can be set to 192. 168. ***. 0 at will ).
In the NAT Settings dialog box, vmnet HOST: vmnet8; gateway IP Address: 192.168.235.2 (you can select either of them at 192.168.235.1 ~ The IP address between 192.168.235.254 as the gateway address ).
In Linux, I installed redhat9, from the Start Menu of RedHat, to system settings, to the network menu for network configuration. In the "Network Configuration" dialog box, double-click the "devices" tab and open the "Ethernet device" dialog box. The configuration is as follows: Address: 192.168.235.3, subnet mask: 255.255.255.0, and default gateway address: 192.168.235.2. (Note: The gateway address must be consistent with the gateway IP address configured in the VM ).
In this way, the virtual machine and my host, namely 192.168.1.123 (Windows) and 192.168.235.3 (RedHat), can be connected to each other.
RedHat seems unable to access the Internet. Then I configured DNS. Primary DNS: 192.168.1.123, secondary DNS: the DNS address on the Windows host. Diactivate, and then activate it to access the Internet.
