VMware Player installs the Debian system

Try to use a virtual machine to install the Debian system. In this way, it is convenient to install and uninstall the system. In addition, you can find a solution on the host when there is a problem with the installation of the Linux system, at the same time, it also avoids the need to re-set partitions to install the Linux system (in the case of dual systems ).

On a 64-bit Windows host, use the vmwarevm to install the Debian system as follows:

  • Software preparation:
  1. First, download the latest version of VMware Player Virtual Machine (the latest version of the current time is 12.0) on the VMware website (https://my.vmware.com/en/web/vmware/free#desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_workstation_player/12_0), the reason for choosing the VMware Player version is that the latter is a streamlined version, "Although the sparrow is small and dirty," it is a good choice for individual users because it is free of charge;
  2. Second, on the Debian official website (https://www.debian.org), download the complete installation of the image, (of course, there are other versions available on its official website (online version, standard version, etc )), here I chose the latest desktop version of 64-bit 8.4.0 (http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/8.4.0/amd64/bt-dvd/), the page list can see a lot of files, we just need to download one of the system image seed on the line, if I choose the "debian-8.4.0-amd64-DVD-1.iso.torrent", and then use thunder download can, the complete installation version is relatively large, there are 3.71G;
  • Installation:
  1. Install the virtual machine according to the VMware Player Installation Wizard;
  2. Because I want to install a 64-bit system on a virtual machine, when I start to install Debian, a warning may be prompted about the support for "Intel VT-x, there is a cute video on YouTube to introduce Intel's technology, Intel.®Virtualization Technology (if you're curious about what it is, you can click it ). So we have to restart windows and enter the bios according to the boot prompt. Press the Esc key on my HP host to Enable the above technology;
  3. After the restart, start to install the Debian system. Start the vmwarevm as shown in the following figure:

Step 1 create a virtual machine and load the Debian system image -- next

Step 2 set the Virtual Machine name and path, which can be kept by default. Here I have set a separate folder on disk D for storage.

Step 3: set the size of the virtual disk. Here I keep the default value. Of course, you can set -- next as needed.

Step 4 summarize the virtual machine settings. We can modify or set the hard disk size and memory in Customize Hardware as needed. The default NAT is recommended for the network to allow virtual machines to use the host network, after setting, click "Finish" to start Debian installation.

Step 5 because a USB wireless network card is inserted on my host, the above small window will be displayed, "OK. Next, click the Virtual Machine installation screen with the mouse, and select the installation option through keyboard control. Here we can select "Install" or "Graphical Install", which is only a difference in the interface beauty, the other functions are the same. Here I select "Install"

Step 6 set "language", "Time Zone", and "keyboard configuration" (generally "American English") according to the Debian system installation wizard, the system starts to load the disc file, automatically enters the "Hostname" setting, and switches to step 7.
