Vodafone, the world's largest telecom operator, has signed an agreement with the Norwegian famous browser manufacturer Opera Software Company to customize a Opera Mini mobile browser to bring high-quality mobile Internet experience to low-end mobile phone users.
Vodafone will promote the Opera Mini mobile browser in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
It is especially suitable for users from developing countries who may use mobile phones to experience the internet for the first time. Users can even easily access the Internet by holding a low-cost mobile phone that supports Java.
With this customized Opera Mini browser, Vodafone users can not only experience full-featured Internet browsing, but also customize personalized mobile phone screen icons. In addition, users can also use the webpage zoom function to automatically adapt the webpage content to the mobile phone screen, making it easier to browse. On some specified mobile phones, users can also download and watch videos from popular websites such as YouTube.
At the same time, due to the efficient data compression capability of Opera Mini, the webpage content is transmitted and downloaded to the user's mobile terminal, the compression ratio is as high as 90%-this means that when users use a relatively low speed network environment, the network browsing speed will be very fast. Therefore, mobile phones can provide users with more system resources, thus providing users with a high-quality network experience.
Previously, Vodafone's Egyptian branch has tried to promote the browser for its users. User feedback is very positive. More than 0.4 million users downloaded and installed the mobile browser within one month.
As part of the global framework cooperation agreement signed with Opera Software, Vodafone will pre-install the Vodafone version of Opera Mini mobile browser on all its Java mobile phones, we also encourage new and old users to download and install the SDK.
Mr. Pieter Knook, director of the Internet Service Department of Vodafone, said: "We believe that the cooperation agreement with Opera Software will help bring a richer mobile network experience to users ."
Mr. Jon S. von Tetzchner, Chief Executive Officer of Opera, said: "The cooperation agreement signed by the two parties will allow more mobile phone users around the world to experience mobile networks more quickly and easily ."
