I am a follower of open-source software, and I did this in college. I am very fascinated by the Linux culture. The first time I came into contact with Linux was Redhat, which was bought by my classmates at a graduation bookstore. There were 6 CDs with exquisite packaging. This is also the first time I have seen not pirated software. Later, Redhat did not provide the free version, and its community edition Fedora did not provide the upgrade service. It was a bit disappointed with it and turned to look for other Linux operating systems.

Ubuntu 5.05 was discovered in. Although it was only one of the many Linux distributions, it was small (only one CD) and free cd delivery (they actually mailed me a set of 5.10 CD, moved ToT) but deeply attracted me. From 5.05 to 8.04, I have been using it, but because of work needs, I still have to work with fashion Windows. However, there are a lot of problems with this approach, and there is also a lot of hardware damage, I broke two hard disks and a video card. Later I learned how to install Ubuntu on a virtual machine in Windows.

What else cannot be implemented in Linux? If so, it's just a few fat clients. So this time I decided to abandon Windows. Below I assume that everyone is new to Ubuntu, and I will briefly introduce the installation.

1. Ubuntu installation steps are very dumb. If you know how to install the Winddows system, you will be able to install Ubuntu in 100%. It is recommended that you perform the following partitioning:

/Ext3 (the root directory stores system files and installed applications)

/Home ext3 (the user directory, such as desktop, personal folder, and user configuration, exists here. If you want to install multi-core Linux, you can separate/boot into another partition)

Swap (1-2 times the size of your memory)

2. After the system is installed, the interface is in English and there is no Chinese Input Method. Therefore, you must configure the Chinese environment first.

Select Chinese from System> System Manage> Language Surport.

3. Most people think of simple CLI and complex Shell commands when talking about Linux. This is just a one-sided view. In fact, Linux also has a simple solution that you don't even need to worry about. The system> System Management> New Profit Package Manager provided in Ubuntu is such a software. If you need something and hook it up, he will help us (because it is downloaded from the network, so make sure you are connected to the Internet. Otherwise, nothing can be installed ). So when we see what requires a lot of command line operations on the network, we should first calm down and find new gains, otherwise it will be easy to get stuck. Generally, the 90% new gains we usually need can be used for us.

4. The shadow of Windows cannot be completely removed from Windows, for example. chm e-books, flash idew.rar files, and IE files. Of course, we cannot install a Windows operating system for these rarely used programs, therefore, we need to find a zero-configuration solution that can run Windows applications in Linux. So we have Wine and Wine-doors.

Wine can be installed from new products, while Wine-doors can download the. deb (Debian Installation File, Ubuntu is developed by Debian, so it is also applicable) file.

Problems encountered by Wine:

1) Wine starts slowly in the Chinese environment. This is caused by Chinese fonts. The solution is to open ~ /. Wine/drive_c/windows/regedit.exe registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/FontSubstitutes, change the value of Ms Shell Dlg and Ms Shell Dlg 2 to the Chinese font of your system, for example, wqy-zenhei (wenquanyu font)

2) Open the terminal, enter sudo gedit/etc/sysctl. conf, add the following two lines, and save. This aims to solve the memory error when running wine.

-Vm. mmap_min_addr = 65536
+ Vm. mmap_min_addr = 0

3) Finally, we can use Wine-doors to install the required Windows software (such as photoshop, flash, dreamweaver, winrar, and Warcraft ).

5. Others (supplemented slowly)
